"Best of Home Care" 2015

FootPrints is happy to announce being awarded "Provider of Choice" by Home Care Pulse. 2015 marks our fourth consecutive year on the "Best of Home Care" list, a compilation of exemplary agencies across the United States and Canada. As one of only three from the State of New Mexico, we are proud that our mission to deliver the highest quality care has been recognized by a third party.

What makes the Best Place to Work?

New employees are frequently surprised at the emphasis we at FootPrints place upon developing the best place to work. Such a priority is foreign to the experience of many as jobs tend to be viewed as necessary evils. They’re what we have to do to support what we want to do. But we like to approach it differently. FootPrints employees, according to President & CEO Brian Fletcher, “deserve to work for an employer that appreciates their service” and at a place they love coming to daily.

Nurses-Home Health or Hospital?

Nursing career paths are commonly mistaken to run through hospitals only. A little bit of research counters that assumption revealing wide variety opportunities, some of which may suit the personality and care philosophies of certain nurses much better. One of these is home health.

Caregivers: What they are and how to become one

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for Personal Care Aides (their "official" term for caregivers) are projected to grow by 49 percent between 2012 and 2022, significantly outpacing the average for all occupations. These estimates are in anticipation of the impending retirements of 76 million baby boomers who are likely to require professional care in the coming years. It's always a good idea to enter an industry with a bright future, so, what is and how can you become a caregiver?

FootPrints Home Care Job Fair

This Friday (March 27th) FootPrints will be hosting its first ever job fair. We have openings for RNs, LPNs, Home Health Aides, and Caregivers and intend to hire quickly to compensate for rapidly expanding need.

Home health care is a very rewarding field that, in addition to pursuing health objectives, fosters deep relationships with patients in a way hospitals and facilities are unable to match.

For more information about career opportunities in home health care, check out our recent blog posts Caregivers: what they are and how to become one and Nurses – home health or hospital? They’ll give you a little background on the positions and whether they might be a good fit for you.

We hope to see you there!

Growth is Our Goal

Growth is defined as “the process of increasing in physical size” and in many instances it’s a positive thing. We want our kids to grow healthy and strong. If you are a gardener, you want your plants to grow full and tall. At FootPrints Home Care, we want to achieve growth as well and on Friday, March 27th, we held a career fair at POMS and Associates to move towards our goal.

Advance Your Caregiving Career

For those looking to put their proclivity for care into action, professional caregiving is a great place to start. It has few prerequisites and relatively little training allowing for work assignments to begin almost immediately. But for those currently in the profession, what is the next step? Caregiving certainly has its limits, and at times does not allow you to perform the range of services needed by the one under your care. Certain tasks require a higher level of training. Fortunately, that training is available for a relatively low investment of time and money.

Serving the Underserved

A message from FootPrints Home Care President & CEO Brian Fletcher

I used to think leadership was about competence, hard work, and vision. I've since learned that leadership is about humility. Competence, hard work, and vision are important traits, but humility matters most because through it I have learned many lessons about the significance of the work we do. I have learned that I am not the boss, I am the steward. The steward of this business and the jobs it creates, the steward of the community impact we have, and most importantly, the steward of our culture.
