Up, Up, and Away with Palmilla Senior Living

FootPrints Home Care and Palmilla Senior Living are co-hosting a fundraiser to benefit The Alzheimer’s Association New Mexico Chapter. Come join us as we marvel at the spectacle of hot air balloons in action. The Balloon Flight School and New Mexico Balloon Team will be on site with a few of their balloons and are giving attendees the opportunity to get inside the baskets for pictures. Fall favorites breakfast burritos, hot chocolate, and coffee will also be on hand.

The event will be held at the Palmilla Senior Living facility (10301 Golf Course Rd NW, click map to the right for directions) from 7-10am on Saturday, September 19th. All proceeds will benefit The Alzheimer’s Association New Mexico Chapter, an organization with a mission “to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.”

As FootPrints Home Care and Palmilla Senior Living provide care for many Alzheimer’s patients, the heartbreak this condition causes is very near to our hearts. As a result, we are committed to supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and its efforts to abolish this tragic disease.

If you have any questions feel free to contact our offices at 505.828.3918. We hope to see you there!

The Benefits of Strength Training

If a miracle treatment claiming to reverse the physical effects of aging were to arise would you pursue it? Most would respond with a resounding “yes”, but they would also assume it to be either highly expensive or farcical. However, a “treatment” does exist that is comparatively inexpensive and has been proven to build strength, lower body fat, reduce the risk of diseases like diabetes, arthritis, and depression all the while preventing dangerous falls that can cause serious injury through improved balance and coordination.

It goes by many names but is most commonly referred to as strength training. And of all methods to curb the effects of aging, it should be at the top of the list.

We had blast last weekend with Palmilla Senior Living hosting our first ever Up, Up, and Away! Alzheimer’s Association fundraiser. Everyone in attendance, from young children to residents of the facility, got the chance to encounter balloons up close and marvel at their beauty and size.

We would like to thank Palmilla Senior Living for hosting the event, the Civil Air Patrol for sharing their balloons, and all who came early to support an organization dedicated to eradicating a tragic disease.
