2015 Spring All Staff Meeting

Our annual “State of the State” all staff meeting was held last weekend at the Courtyard Marriot. Though it occurs in the middle of the calendar year, it functions as a year-end celebration of recent accomplishments as well as a platform to share the exciting future of FootPrints Home Care. The two hour meeting was packed with information; some of the highlights include:

Here at FootPrints we are always on the lookout for great prospects to join our amazing staff and in our search we decide to ask the most obvious source: our amazing employees! We handed out three surveys to the employees in attendance at the Annual Spring AllStaff meeting in hopes to understand where to advertise to boost our growth plans in the coming year.

The Importance of Advanced Directives

Just over 10 years ago, a once vibrant young woman who spent the final fifteen years of her life in a persistent vegetative state passed away. Her death and its circumstances rattled many and resulted in a contentious debate over end-of-life medical treatment decisions that continues today. Though her death was heartbreaking, perhaps the biggest tragedy of her story is that her fate was determined by a judge and, amidst the commotion of determining the right course of action, the only opinion that wasn’t heard was hers. Terri Schiavo was unable to communicate her wishes; had an advanced directive been in place, she might still be alive today.

Retirement is a time of life that many of us look forward to. And on a hot New Mexico summer day, nothing can beat the refreshment that comes from a cold glass of lemonade. But other terms preceded by “re” are held in much lower regard. In healthcare, readmission is of the worst.

VA Aid & Attendance - Helping Veterans Pay for Home Care

As we look forward to celebrating our nation’s Independence Day it’s important to honor those who have fought to preserve that independence. Servicemen and women, from the Revolutionary War to today’s conflicts in the Middle East, are vital contributors to our heritage. Without their sacrifice our freedom may never have been won, much less defended. Yet so often they are neglected—-especially in times of relative peace-—and unmet needs build up. This is especially true for aging veterans with no means to pay for long term care services. Fortunately, a benefit is available to them that can help pay for home care and related services.
